Nithurst Farm is an award-winning contemporary house. Brick on the outside, it rises to in steps to form a tower, characterised by arched windows. Internally, grand concrete spaces are enlivened by paintings, sculptures and tapestries. The house was published in World of Interiors magazine last year; the text from the article is below: In a valley bottom in West Sussex, something a little like a Romano-Palladian tower house rises from an old farmyard. The product of years of thinking, imagining and refining, it prompts comparisons with Elizabethan prodigy houses, the most daring of all English buildings. This ‘dream house’ was built for his family by the contemporary architect Adam Richards and completed just a few months ago. Until now his practice was best known for designing the Ditching Museum of Art and Craft in West Sussex, but this new house is a game changer. As Adam says, ‘We design contemporary buildings that feel as though they’ve always been there when you see them in the distance, and then when you see them close you notice there’s something really unusual going on.’
